Aliaksandra is program assistant and project manager for Belarus.
Aliaksandra was born in Belarus, and moved to Norway in 2015. Before her move to Norway, Aliaksandra was working as a tutor and an interpreter for international organizations and quickly understood that to be an impartial medium for different sides will not suffice. She wanted to choose sides and to be able to affect the outcome of the communication. So, the next logical step was political science and Middle East studies at the University of Oslo.
After graduating I was working with immigration and integration at the Norwegian Women’s Public Health Association. I learnt a lot from working with marginalized groups and saw another side of the Nordic “Dream State”. This made me even more passionate about human rights and I was looking for an opportunity to work with this subject on a wider scale.
I am thrilled to become a part of the NHC and make my modest contribution to all the good work that this organization does all around the world. As Martin Luther King once said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”, that’s why human rights are not limited to one particular state, but are our common responsibility.
