Ukraine: Delegation of anti-corruption activists visit Norway

A delegation of anti-corruption experts and activists from Ukraine visited Oslo this week. The visit was part of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee’s Nansen project, supported by the government of Norway.

Representatives of Ukrainian civil society were here for advocacy purposes, seeking support for Ukraine struggle but also to educate Norwegian stakeholders who had expressed a wish to learn more about anti-corruption work in the country.

The team visited several Norwegian civil society organizations and government institutions. Meeting with Norwegian political parties as well as the Parliament (Storting), representatives of Automaidan, Anti-Corruption Action Center, Mezha Anti-Corruption Center and Bihus.Info described current challenges and cleared up common misunderstandings.

Members of the Ukrainian delegation also met with Norwegian media during their visit. An article in Filter News, Kateryna Butko from Automaidan and Valeriia Radchenko from Anti-Corruption Action Center emphasized the importance of keeping the government accountable by exposing corruption and also safeguarding national anti-corruption mechanisms.

At the same time, they warned against stereotypes and underlined the importance of international support.
