We are excited to announce that applications for the Advocates for Change Strengthening Civil Society in Türkiye 2026-2027 Grant Programme are now open!

Are you part of a civil society organisation working on LGBTIQ+ rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment, or environmental and climate justice? Grounded in the protection of human rights for all, democratic principles, and the rule of law, this Programme supports organisations outside of Istanbul and Ankara, through funding, strengthening capacity, and opportunities for collaboration and shared learning. As an exception, registered LGBTIQ+ rights organisations based in Istanbul and Ankara may also apply for projects that are co-designed with and prominently engage and benefit LGBTIQ+ communities outside these cities. 

The Programme is supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and implemented by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee in cooperation with partner organisations in Türkiye, including Uçan Süpürge (Flying Broom) Women’s Communication and Research AssociationUniversity Queer Research and LGBTI+ Solidarity Association (Unikuir), and Armaş Foundation 

The call is open for applications that address the following priority themes:   

  • LGBTIQ+ rights  
  • Gender equality and women’s empowerment   
  • Environmental and climate justice 

Intersectional projects, particularly those integrating minority rights perspectives and intersecting forms of discrimination, are strongly encouraged. Collaborative and partnership-based approaches among civil society are also welcomed. 

Through the Programme, grants of 150,000–210,000 NOK will be provided to support rights-based projects in the priority thematic areas. The funds will be disbursed in three instalments, with the final 10% released after the completion and approval of the final report.

Projects should be implemented in Türkiye and completed by 30 July 2027. The implementation period should be between 8 and 10 months, with projects of less than 10 months starting immediately after the grant agreement is signed in October 2026.  

If selected, we will move forward to the final due diligence checks.
